Tourism in Algeria is still in its infancy. If the South carries out most of the tourism business, the Mediterranean coast is practically devoid of real infrastructure to accommodate travelers looking for vacation.
From the desert to the cities, from the Sahara to Algiers Constantine or white, the country is however not stingy with outstanding scenery and the current practice of the French language by the population facilitates contacts.
practical advice
Travel to the deep south are required to be supervised by travel agencies approved by the Algerian Ministry of Tourism. These agencies speak perfect pitch and offer known and authorized by the security forces, with which they are permanently connected circuits.
Depending on the security situation, some sectors and routes can also be closed to other traffic. In 2003 German tourists were they abducted during a stay in the Sahara.
The resorts
Algerian Mediterranean coast stretches from west to east, the Moroccan border to the Tunisian border, nearly 1,100 kilometers. However, of the 487 beaches that make up the Algerian coast, 213 are closed to swimming due to pollution!
The Algerian coast are distinguished in two areas:
The Emerald Coast (east of Algiers) Algiers-Beach which is actually 25 km from the capital is one of the nicest resorts. It is the ideal place for water sports (sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, etc.). The resort also has beautiful upscale villas.
The Turquoise Coast (west of Algiers). Algiers to Oran, several resorts are scattered along the coast, including those in the Bay du Sahel (20 km from Algiers), fully equipped with hotels, villas, bungalows, restaurants, casinos and shopping centers.
Cultural Heritage / Archaeology / museum
tipasa
This ancient Punic trading which was occupied by the Romans combines many remains: Phoenician, Roman, early Christian and Byzantine. The Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania (Arabic Kbour-er-Roumia), is a monument of numide time, built by King Juba II who reigned from 25 BC. BC to 23 AD. AD Located 70 kilometers from Algiers on the Mediterranean shore, Tipasa also has the advantage of harboring great beaches!
Djemila Belle (formerly Cuicul)
This ancient city particularly prosperous, located on the high plains of Setif, offers visitors the imposing remains of the second century AD (Capitol, public buildings, temples, fountains, military buildings and a Christian basilica of the fourth century).
Good to know: the Roman archaeological site of Timgad also worth visiting (north-east). Various archaeological tours some of which include Djémila and Timgad are offered to tourists. Contact the Office of Tourism in the Algerian voyages@algeriantourism.com address.

SNTF (National Society of rail transport) interconnects most medium and large Algerian cities. Count 1000 dinars or 10 euros and 5 hours to get to Algiers Oran, 250 dinars, or 2.50 euros to daisy 4:00 Bejaia in Algeria 310 km apart.
Please take the time ahead if you plan to take the train in Algeria as it is quite slow!
Car rental
Rates range from 10,000 to 15,000 dinars (100 to 150 euros) a week for a Class A car (Clio, 206, 307, etc.).
taxis
There are two kinds of taxis in Algeria: individual or collective. These provide regular lines.
Long-distance taxis (inter wilaya which connect major cities) also exist, available at bus stations in all cities.
Advantages: more comfortable and faster than a bus.
Disadvantage: the drivers drive at breakneck speed ...
Local transportation
Algeria can boast of Africa's largest road network.
The code for the Algerian route is roughly the same as that of European countries, the signs are in Arabic and French for most.
